For dummy cakes, use royal icing, buttercream, or ganache (matching your cake's color) to secure the clear tier. Spread a thin layer of the mixture and place the clear tier on top.
For real cakes, ensure the cake is dowelled properly for support. Then apply the same icing or ganache to attach the clear tier.
Hide imperfections by placing a thin layer of sugar paste (matching your cake color) inside the clear tier.
- Use battery-powered fairy lights for a stunning visual effect. Remove the lid of the clear tier, arrange the lights inside, and ensure the wire exits at the back.
- Hide the battery pack behind the cake using royal icing to secure it.
- Place a decorated cake inside an upside-down clear tier, using the lid as the base. Attach the cake using royal icing or ganache, and add a top tier as desired.
- Use tweezers and edible glue to attach pressed flowers inside the clear tier. Carefully arrange the flowers with tweezers and press them in place.
- Apply royal icing over a stencil placed on the side of the clear tier. Use a scraper to remove excess icing and reveal the pattern. Repeat the process for all sides.
- Roll out sugar paste to fit the clear tier and trim it to the desired shape. Use edible glue or water to attach the sugar paste, then smooth it over the tier with a cake smoother. Puncture air bubbles with a sterile needle.
- Fill the clear tier with artificial, fresh, or sugar flowers for an elegant touch. Arrange them with leaves at the bottom and ensure the front of the flowers is visible.
- Melt cocoa butter and mix with edible dust colors. Use a paintbrush to apply details to the clear tier, blending colors with a dry brush for added texture.
These creative techniques provide endless possibilities to enhance your cake designs using Clear Tier separators!
